FedEx trucking accident caused deadly collision with tour bus near Sacramento
After a long CHP truck accident investigation it has been determined that the driver of a FedEx tractor-trailer veered off the highway and through the center divider which led to the head on collision with a tour bus full of high school students. Unfortunately the CHP reported that they could not figure out why the FedEx driver, Timothy Paul Evans, sent his tractor-trailer across the center divider and into the path of the tour bus. Ten people died in this trucking accident near Sacramento including Evans and high school students.
CHP spokesperson stated that “The truck went across in a shallow angle and didn’t deviate from that path. There were no evasive maneuvers, no brakes, no turning movements, to veer from the path.” Fedex representatives could not comment at this time due to another investigation currently taking place.
“Our heartfelt sympathy remains with everyone affected by this accident. FedEx Freight cooperated fully with federal and state agencies during their respective investigations, and will carefully review the CHP truck accident report,” FedEx said in a written statement.
One of the bus accident victim attorney’s stated the the bus driver, Talalelei Lealao-Taiao, of Sacramento, really loved her job. They also went on stating that there was no way to avoid the accident. She was just in the wrong place at the wrong time. The CHP report showed that Talalelei had attempted to avoid a collision with the tractor-trailer but the bus accident happened too fast.
The FedEx tractor-trailer was returning to Sacramento with 2 trailers when the accident happened. Truck accident investigators in Sacramento may never figure out exactly what caused the FedEx driver to steer his tractor-trailer into the path of the on-coming bus because most of the critical evidence was lost in the fire that resulted from the bus accident.
As a result of the truck accident near Sacramento there has been over 35 lawsuits filed against FedEx and Silverado Stages tour bus company. A Sacramento truck accident attorney expects all crash claims to be heard in a single court case soon.
