U.S. FDA Recalls Defective Medical Device Zimmer Knee Persona® Tibial Plate
The FDA has recalled the defective medical device known as the Zimmer knee replacement which is very likely to fail. The Zimmer Persona® Trabecular Metal™ Tibial Plate is an individual part of three primary components of the knee replacement that has a tendency to pull away from the leg bone structure. People that have the Zimmer knee replacement installed are showing high rates of joint instability. The defective medical device is also showing radiolucent lines which is an indication of this premature failure.
In the FDA’s medical device recall it has been pointed out that knee replacement patients will need to endure another surgery to replace the recalled unit.
In the 3 years that the product has been on the market there has been about 10,500 Zimmer knee replacements completed. For a product that should last for 15 plus years, this is not good news for the defective medical device manufacturer.
It has been reported by patients that have the Zimmer Knee Replacement device, that they experience knee popping, mobility limitations and knee pain.
