Of course, no one has studied this to be sure but it definitely seems like this could be the case based on recent Sacramento FedEx truck accidents. Just in the last six months, at least three Fed-ex trucks have been involved in truc accidents in and around Sacramento.
Last month, a Fed-ex driver was accused of causing a truck accident that injured a California Highway Patrol Officer while under the influence of narcotics. The Fed-ex driver caused a collision on I-80 in Vallejo in October 2015 in another Fed-ex semi-truck.
This past January, a Fed-ex semi-truck created a major traffic jam when it crashed on the southbound side of Highway 99. In December 2015, a Fed-ex driver crashed into another vehicle on I-5 in Sacramento killing an Elk Grove man. Witnesses claim the driver of the Fed-ex truck was traveling too fast for conditions.
Sacramento Car Crashes Involving Semi-Trucks
Fed-ex trucks are not the only large commercial vehicles that cause truck accidents in the Sacramento area. Other trucking companies have their vehicles involved in car crashes in Sacramento, throughout California, and from one end of this country to the other. The government estimates that over 70 percent of the fatalities and injuries in semi-truck accidents are passengers in other vehicles.
Reasons for crashes involving large trucks include:
- Driver error (i.e. speeding, reckless driving, impaired driving, etc.)
- Improperly maintained or defective equipment
- Inexperienced drivers
- Fatigued or drowsy driving
- Improperly loaded cargo
- Weather conditions
Regardless of the reason for the FedEx truck accident one thing seems to remain the same — semi-truck accidents result in catastrophic injuries to drivers and passengers in other vehicles.
Damages in FedEx Truck Accident Cases
Damages in truck accident cases tend to be substantial due to the catastrophic injuries and deaths that result from collisions with this extremely large, heavy vehicles. A passenger vehicle is easily crumpled and completely destroyed when it goes up against a semi-truck. Therefore, insurance companies for the trucking industry often have specialized investigators that arrive at the scene of the crash or shortly thereafter to being an extensive crash scene investigation. The company is hoping to find evidence that it can use to mitigate its responsibility and losses.
