A California water park in California had a potential chemical leak that sickened dozens of people. The public swimming pool was shut down Thursday after many of the guests started becoming ill. Adults and children swimming there had sore throats, skin rashes and some were vomiting.
Local emergency crews arrived to help almost 40 victims of the potential chemical spill. Authorities searched for the cause by they did not find the source of the leak. Sodium hypochlorite, a chemical disinfectant, is commonly used to disinfect the pools which is ten times stronger then clorine. Many people at the pool suffered from respiratory distress and were transported to local hospitals to be evaluated. The pool facility was reopened later in the week after it was determined that the water was safe again to swim in.
