Burglary, Car Chase Results in Folsom Wreck
A bizarre chain of events occurring Monday morning led to one person being arrested, two being taken to the hospital, and traffic backed up behind a motor vehicle accident in a busy Folsom, CA intersection.
The chain of events began when a wanted felon burglarized two businesses—a salon and clothing store—around 8:00 in the morning on Monday in Folsom. “The break-in was discovered by an employee of one of the businesses,” said Andrew Bates with Folsom Police Department. A police chase ensued.
However, the four-mile chase was not exactly hair-raising. “We were very cautious of the traffic and people’s safety,” Bates said. “It wasn’t one of those 100 miles per hour chases.” Unfortunately, the chase still ended poorly, with the vehicle driven by the 25-year-old felon slamming into a minivan with a mother and child inside on Blue Ravine at Big Valley Road.
The criminal was taken into custody because items from the two stores were found in his car after the crash. The mother from the minivan was taken to a local hospital with minor injuries, but she is expected to be okay. Thankfully, the child in the minivan sustained no significant injuries.
